A Unique Approach
Founded by Kris Kurnat, Kurnat Woodworking was built on a simple belief: quality never goes out of style. What began as a passion for fine carpentry has evolved into a trusted name across New Jersey and New York, known for exceptional trim work, built-ins, millwork, and complete home renovations.

Design & Discovery
Every great project starts with understanding your vision. We meet with you to discuss your goals, take precise measurements, and guide you through materials, finishes, and design options. Whether you’re renovating an entire home or adding custom details, this step ensures clarity and confidence from the start.
Craftsmanship & Fabrication
Once the design is approved, our team gets to work. Each piece is carefully crafted in our workshop using high-quality materials and expert techniques. Every cut, joint, and finish is handled with precision because quality can’t be rushed.
Installation & Finishing Touches
We deliver and install every element with the same care we put into building it. Our team works cleanly, efficiently, and respectfully in your home, ensuring each detail aligns perfectly. Before completion, we walk you through the finished result to make sure every expectation is met, or exceeded.

Meet Our Founder
Kris Kurnat hails from southern Poland, born into the Górale highlanders, a people known for having craft in their hands, thanks to their centuries-long traditions of craftmanship and carpentry.
Kris moved to the United States in 2002 and jumped into the woodworking industry, apprenticing for commercial contractors and working for framers and general contractors, eagerly soaking in everything there is to know about residential building. Through these experiences, he discovered what he was truly meant to do: Custom Woodworking.
He fell in love with the process of working with clients to design beautiful pieces or accents that would fit within their space with custom precision, and he also loved the physical work of crafting something from nothing with his own two hands. He founded Kurnat Woodworking in 2007 with the big idea to make anything from wood that you could dream.
Today, Kris still loves his work with a fierce passion, and he’s poured that passion into every aspect of the company, from the quality of the work itself to the simple, start-to-finish client experience.
